We are all aware that Bharatanatyam is an ancient classical Indian dance form, so I won’t delve into its definition. However, I came across an intriguing analogy online (credit to Mythili Prakash and the project Shivoham), and I would like to share it with you.

According to them, Bharatanatyam doesn’t just come with movement, vocabulary, repertoire, technique etc. It also comes with drama, mythology, philosophy, characters, emotions, relationships.”

Bharatanatyam, accompanied by Sangeetham (music) and Sahithyam (lyrics), serves as a powerful medium for the expression of “Nava Rasa” (nine emotions). It becomes a vehicle for imparting knowledge and wisdom, forging an emotional connection with the audience. Through this art form, a profound message is conveyed, one that resonates deeply and leaves an indelible impression on the hearts and minds of the audience, lasting for a lifetime.
